What's The Worth Of Buffalo Nickels?

I really like the old Buffalo nickels but I was wondering what their worth really is for

1) a recognizable but fairly worn coin

2) a relatively uncirculated coin

Also, does anybody know what the metal content of these coins are or how much their metal value currently is?

Ranges from about $1 to about $40,000 - depending on date, mintmark, condition, etc.

Check this handy dandy listing:

It should provide just about all you need to know about the old buffalo nickel with respect to prices of coins. The buffalo nickel has always been a real favorits of mine, just too bad it does not conatin any silver. On the other hand with the prices of nickel and copper, its getting pretty valuable just for its contained metal.

Oops, The metal content is 75% copper, 25% nickel.
The current nickel is the same size and composition and contains around 13-14 cents worth of metal at current prices.

I believe a modern nickel is 75% copper and 25% nickel, but I don't know
if the old Buffalo is the same or not.
